At Desert Wheels in Arizona, we celebrate the timeless beauty of classic cars while helping those in need. If you own a vintage vehicle, such as a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air or a 1970 Dodge Challenger, your donation can create a lasting impact. Many of our donors have cherished these cars for decades, often with stories of summer road trips or family gatherings. By donating, you’re not just giving away a car; you’re passing on a legacy.
Classic cars, particularly those from the pre-1990 era, have a special place in our community. Whether it’s a 1965 Ford Mustang or an Austin-Healey, each vehicle tells a unique story. By donating your classic car to Desert Wheels, you help us continue our mission, while also receiving potential tax benefits. Every contribution, no matter the condition, helps us support our local community initiatives.

How pickup works
When you donate a classic car, we prioritize the safe and secure transportation of your vehicle. For higher-value donations, we strongly prefer using an enclosed transport trailer to protect your classic during transit. Our team will coordinate pickup directly with you, ensuring a smooth process. We can either schedule a flatbed truck to transport the vehicle or, if preferred, arrange for a drive-away service. Storage-lot coordination can also be arranged for those who need additional time before pickup.
What drives donation value
The value of your classic car donation is influenced by several key factors. First, a qualified appraisal is mandatory for IRS purposes, specifically filling out Form 8283 Section B. Additional value drivers include documented service history, matching-numbers verification, and whether the car is period-correct versus restomod. Notably, vehicles with documented provenance or original drivetrains often command a premium, as do convertibles and those with desirable features. Collectors also appreciate 'barn find' patinas, which can add unique charm and value.
Documentation you need
- Vehicle title
- Service records
- Qualified appraisal for IRS Form 8283 Section B
- Marti Report for Fords
- NCRS judging documentation for Corvettes
Arizona specifics
In Arizona, the DMV requires that all classic cars be properly titled or accompanied by a bill of sale. While most classic vehicles must have a clear title for donation, some exceptions may apply for vehicles with historical significance. It's essential to ensure that all paperwork is in order to facilitate a smooth donation process. At Desert Wheels, our team is here to help you navigate these requirements and make your donation as hassle-free as possible.
