How pickup works
Pickup logistics for RVs and motorhomes require specialized care. Depending on the vehicle’s size and condition, we use flatbed trucks or drive-away services to ensure safe transport. If the RV is stored at a facility, we coordinate with the storage lot to arrange a convenient pickup time. It’s important to note that vehicle height and length impact routing, as most states enforce a maximum height clearance of 13'6”. We’ll handle all the details, including any necessary communication with RV parks or storage facilities, to ensure a seamless donation experience for you.
What drives donation value
The value of your donated RV or motorhome can significantly depend on the condition of its house systems, including the roof, slides, plumbing, and air conditioning. A well-maintained vehicle can fetch a higher donation tax deduction, while signs of water damage can lead to major devaluation. Recent maintenance records are beneficial and can enhance your vehicle’s worth, especially before peak auction seasons in spring. For classic models, we recommend obtaining an appraisal (IRS Form 8283 Section B), ensuring you receive the best possible charitable deduction.
Documentation you need
- Vehicle title (signed over to Desert Wheels)
- Maintenance records (if available)
- IRS Form 8283 for appraised values
- Current registration documents
- Any special documentation for unique models (MSO for off-road)
Arizona specifics
In Arizona, the DMV requires a signed vehicle title for the transfer of ownership, making it essential to have this document ready when donating your RV or motorhome. For vehicles without a title, a bill of sale may be used under certain conditions, though it's crucial to check local regulations. Make sure to settle any outstanding registration fees before donation, as these can affect the overall transaction process.
